Selves in Books

If people need stories, it is because they enter into them as participants; functioning as observers who apply lessons to themselves, but also identifying closely with friends and relatives of the characters as well as the characters themselves. People enter into the community of book-people, and live there for a time. After they are done reading, they carry the imprint of those people and those happenings as they carry the memory of real people who have died, or gone away.
